| - Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, the most proflific passer in team history, was placed on the NFL club's Covid-19 reserve list Wednesday. The 32-year-old signal caller, the top pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, was put on the list after coming into close contact with a Covid-19 positive person not on the Lions staff, reports said. Stafford has completed 151 of 246 passes for 1,916 yards and 13 touchdowns with five interceptions while rushing 17 times for 77 yards this season for the Lions, who carry a 3-4 record into Sunday's game at Minnesota (2-5). If Stafford does not test positive and remains asymptomatic until Sunday, he would be eligible to play against the Vikings. Stafford landed on the list in August with a false positive test, needing two negative tests to return in a move that led to the NFL tweaking its Covid-19 protocols. The Lions placed linebacker Jarrad Davis on the Covid-19 list on Tuesday. The team did not close down its practice facility on Wednesday, Lions coach Matt Patricia saying such a move was not needed. In 12 NFL seasons, Stafford has thrown for 42,941 yards and 269 touchdowns. But the Lions have not won an NFL playoff game since 1991. js/rcw
