  • Fact Check: Amit Shah Did Not Discourage Voting for BJP Candidate, Viral Video Misleading Vishvas News found the viral video to be incomplete, and the full context reveals that Amit Shah advocated voting for the development of the state, not against the BJP candidate. - By: Pallavi Mishra - Published: Nov 20, 2023 at 01:06 PM New Delhi (Vishvas News): With the announcement of assembly election dates in five states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, there has been an increase in election misinformation on social media. A video clip of Home Minister Amit Shah is currently circulating on social media, sparking claims that he discouraged voting for a BJP candidate. Vishvas News, in its investigation, found this claim to be false. The viral video is incomplete, and in the entire footage, Amit Shah can be heard suggesting that the public should vote for the development of the state, rather than solely for the candidate. What is in the viral post? The viral video, shared by Facebook user Ravi Patel on November 11, 2023, allegedly shows Amit Shah saying, originally in Hindi, “When you go to vote on the 17th, remember one thing, do not vote for Manoj Nirbhay Singh.” The caption claims that he was addressing a rally in Depalpur. Investigation In the viral video, Amit Shah is heard mentioning Manoj Nirbhay Singh. We investigated and found that he is a BJP candidate from Depalpur, an assembly seat in Madhya Pradesh. To authenticate the video, we conducted a keyword search and found that Amit Shah did host a rally in Depalpur on November 11, 2023. We found a live recorded video of the rally on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Facebook page. At the 7-minute mark in the video, Amit Shah explicitly states that voters should prioritise voting for the development of the state over the candidate. He states, originally in Hindi, “When you cast your vote on the 17th, keep in mind not just vote to elect Manoj Nirbhay Singh as MLA. With your vote, he will definitely become MLA, it is crucial to consider the development and security of Madhya Pradesh. Your single vote will play a pivotal role in forming the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, Forming Modi ji’s double-engine government.” Vishvas News reached out to BJP spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi for confirmation, and he affirmed that the video was incomplete. Chaturvedi stated, “Distorting Amit Shah ji’s statement is a symbol of Congress’s defeat, frustration, and disappointment.” Upon investigating the Facebook profile of Ravi Patel, the individual who shared the edited video clip, we discovered that he resides in Indore and has more than 3000 followers. Conclusion: Vishvas News found the viral video to be incomplete, and the full context reveals that Amit Shah advocated voting for the development of the state, not against the BJP candidate. - Claim Review : Now even the Home Minister of the country is saying not to vote for the BJP candidate from Depalpur. - Claimed By : Facebook user Ravi Patel - Fact Check : False Know the truth!
