  • Fact Check: Bill Gates has not launched Ento milk extracted from maggots Some social media users are sharing a few articles from websites claiming that Bill Gates has announced a new food-like liquid product called ‘Ento Milk’ that will replace animal milk. Claim :Bill Gates is launching milk extracted from maggots called ‘Ento Milk’ to replace dairy milk Fact :Bill Gates is not involved in the production of Ento Milk, the insect-based drink Some social media users are sharing a few articles from websites claiming that Bill Gates has announced a new food-like liquid product called ‘Ento Milk’ that will replace animal milk. In the article published in ‘Natural News’, Ento Milk is necessary because traditional dairy milk comes from farms that are destroying the planet. According to the article in Slaynews, Gates and his allies argue that Ento Milk should replace traditional dairy milk because farming allegedly destroys the planet. Also, insects are vital for the future of food because they require very little land and they don’t damage the environment like the livestock. They don’t produce greenhouse gases. It goes on to state that globalists insist that feeding the general public ‘Ento Milk’ will ‘save the planet’ from ‘Climate change’. The article cites an X (Twitter) video published by Alex Jones as a piece of evidence. This video is said to be a promotional video for Ento Milk, as revealed by Infowars’ Alex Jones. Jones warns that it’s another “sick Bill Gates project to feed people maggot milk.” Fact Check: The claim is False. There is no evidence of Bill Gates being involved in the production of Ento Milk or products developed from Maggot milk. The clips shared in the video shared by Alex Jones were taken from the video published by 60 Second Docs in September 2018. The description of the video states ‘Ento Milk, a dairy alternative bug milk made from black soldier fly larvae and rich in protein, fat, calcium, iron and zinc, is being produced in Cape Town by Leah Bessa -- who also experiments with the substance, turning it into insect ice cream and other foods. As humanity’s population increases in size, many believe that more sustainable solutions should be considered -- and that insects may be the key to feeding a growing world. ‘ Ento Milk is the product of the South African company Gourmet Grubb founded by Leah Bessa, it describes Ento Milk as healthy containing healthy fats, containing no carbs and environmentally friendly. The website is disabled now, but we found an archive link. When we searched for further information about Leah Bessa, we found an article that Leah Bessa is a 26-year-old innovator who has taken a new stance on creating natural foods. Leah completed her studies in 2016 at Stellenbosch University in MSc Food Science and is currently based in Cape Town. Bessa and her team have modernized the consumption of insects, by co-creating naturally lactose-free ice cream. This product is made from Ento Milk, which is a type of milk alternative made up of insects. Leah co-created a product that is truly healthy, but still tastes amazing. Leah wants a clear vision for the future of insects in South Africa. She wants to eventually redefine the way people perceive consumption of insects. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s website does not mention Ento Milk on their website. Hence, the claim that Bill Gates is launching maggot milk as a supplement for dairy milk is False.
